Tom Kirby has trained over 10,000 executives to be more effective and persuasive communicators. His clients include AT&T, IBM, Sprint, Xerox, Bank of America, Citicorp, Paine Webber, Pepsico, Hertz, and General Electric. His audio cassette, Communicate with Confidence,was selected for the American Express Executive Library along with In Search of Excellence and The One Minute Manager. It was selected for Business Weeks's collection of "The Forty Best Business Tapes Ever Recorded." His books have been chosen by the McMillan Book Club and Venture Magazine Book Club.

Before founding ECTN in 1986, he was president of Speech Dynamics Marketing Corporation, the executive coaching division of Ogilvy & Mather. He was also a consultant to Communispond, Inc., the world's largest management consulting firm specializing in executive communication skills. He began his business career with ABC in New York City after receiving degrees in journalism and law from the University of Florida.
